Doll Swimsuit Designs by Elizabeth

Elizabeth went into her doll swimsuit designs mode recently after we purchased an Iplehouse EID Carina doll. Almost immediately upon her arrival, Elizabeth began designing one piece swimsuits for her. I think Carina actually inspired both of us quite a bit. I was taken with how well she photographed and DE was taken with how everything she created for her looked good on her.

I thought I would show you some of the doll swimsuit designs that DE came up with here on the website. DE has already sold quite a few of these and if any of you out there has an Iplehouse EID girl who wants a "DE Wear" swimsuit you can inquire about it from the "Ask Elizabeth" page of our website. She can give you all the particulars such as the material we currently have available, which material works best for which doll swimsuit design, and pricing.

DE started with the basic one piece design....

Then she got inspired and upgraded the one piece design into a one piece skirted suit....

Not to stop there, Elizabeth then designed a low back one piece suit and also began looking for more swimsuit material with doll size print on it...

We started getting requests for a sarong to match the suits and began the process of learning how to tie a sarong. While teaching ourselves this art we discovered that tying a sarong around the neck looks much better on a strapless suit. So Elizabeth designed this one piece strapless doll swimsuit....

Designing a doll swimsuit starts with an idea. An idea of what Elizabeth thinks a doll swimsuit should look like. According to her it should hug the curves very well, cover the buttocks, (no thongs here, sorry), and have small doll sized print on the swimsuit fabric.

From there she creates several mock ups until the suit fits perfect to the doll. Needless to say there are necessary adjustments along the way which often produce what we call "prototypes". These patterns are then saved for use to make more of the same style suit.

After perfecting the one piece, DE then began designs on the two piece and bikini style suits. The first one she designed of these was the "Halter Top" two piece suit. Here it is.....

Again the sarong was a bit of an issue when tied around the neck so the bandeau two piece style worked well for a sarong application. More on the sarong later as we have yet to develop the creation of that accessory and photograph it.

Here's the Bandeau Style.......

Of course then we thought that if we could have a skirt on the one piece why not a two piece skirted swimsuit design. Here's the result of that thinking....

DE had a doll swimsuit design in mind that used rings incorporated into the suit and came up with this one....

You may have noticed that in the last few pictures a belly chain is added to the design. This is the result of another creative member of the household, our daughter, Abigail. She saw what her mom was doing and wanted to get in on the act as well. She's even sold a few of these.

Well that's it in a nutshell for doll swimsuit designs for right now. If you are interested in seeing more of these with different fabrics and applications you can visit my
